Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What kind of kinship is this?
A:  Hopefully those in Legend will find it to be friendly, mature, helpful, organized and most importantly fun!

Q:  What kind of kin are you looking for?
A:  We're looking for people who want to be part of something special.  Who respect others as well as themselves, like to help their fellow kin when asked and aren't afraid to ask for help when needed and most of all have a good sense of humor!

Q:  Does this kin have or have access to outside voice chat programs?
A:  Yes. We have a dedicated Ventrilo server that anyone in the kin can use at any time, whether for gameplay or simply just to chat with other kinmates.

Q:  How are alts handled in Legend?
A:  All members alts are welcomed into the kinship equally.  We simply ask that you list the names of your main and alts on the appropriate kinship forum post so that other members can keep track of who is who more easily.

Q:  What is the average age of kin?
A:  Our members range from 18 to parents and even grandparents of 18 yr. olds.  As long as you have a mature (but fun loving!) attitude and aren't prone to dramatic antics, then you'll fit in Legend no matter what your age.

Q:  I travel a lot with my work so I'm gone for periods of time.  Is this a problem?
A:  Nope :)  Just please let someone in the kinship know in advance if possible so that we don't worry about ya :)

Q:  Will there be any kinship organized events?
A:  Yes!  We're very founded in the belief that a kinship that plays together is the best kind of kinship to be a part of.  There will be scheduled events to exp, do quests, and, after beta, play with specific level characters.  These events will VERY rarely be "required" attendance, perhaps never but considering Turbine's announcements that there will be live events I don't want to say definitively never.

Q:  What is the hierarchy structure?
A:  Currently there are four other officers besides myself.  Curran, Mojorison, Corra and Dafyd.  Officers are added exponentially with the number of members in the kinship so you'll never have to worry about the kinship being 2/3 officers.

Q:  How many officers do you plan to have?
A:  We plan to have a decent balance ratio between officers and members.  Too many officers and it leaves members feeling left out.  Too few and there's not enough on to be able to help members when they need.  As our membership grows so will the number of inmates running the asylum. :)  As of now it's not a set number because time of day is also a consideration.  We don't want all of our officers on at 4:00 P.M. but none of them on at either 1 A.M. or 1 P.M.

Q:  What will be the guidelines used for considering a fellow kin for promotion?
A:  There will be no exact litmus test but seniority, helpfulness, knowledge, maturity, and good people skills definitely top the list.  Not necessarily in that order.

Q:  Will there be scheduled guild meetings?
A:  YES!  Nothing drives me more bonkers than being part of a guild that has absolutely no organization or means for members to make suggestions.  We'll try to keep them appropriately spaced and organized so they're efficient and sufficient but not suffocating.  Meeting minutes will be provided for any who cannot attend a guild meeting.

Q:  How will decisions in the guild be made?
A:  No one decision will be made solely by the guild leader.  Decisions will be made either by all guild officer's via vote or by guild members via vote or a combination of the two.  Which decisions are made by any which way will depend on each decision independently.  For example which officer will be responsible for which responsibilities will be made between officers.  If guild/kinship emblems are ever introduced, the guild will be asked to make suggestions and the suggestions will be voted upon by guild members.

Q:  How will kinship invites/recruitment be handled?
A:  As only officers CAN invite in LOTRO at this time, if there is a person that a kin wishes to be invited into the guild he/she will need to ask an officer to do it.  We ask that invitations are not simply given out blindly, that both member and officer take a few minutes to chat with the prospective invite to find out if that person and our guild are a good fit for each other.

Q:  Are there any age, level or other requirements necessary to join Legend?
A:  At this time we have no restrictions on new kin invites - again we only ask that both the referring member and the inviting officer take a few minutes to find out what kind of guild they're looking for and if their personality will mesh well with those already in the guild.
